Chennai may miss out as World T20 host

Chennai may miss out as World T20 host due to the on-going disagreement between ICC and BCCI on the total number of venues for next year's World Twenty20 in India. The BCCI and ICC officials met in Mumbai on Sunday to discuss about the venues for the event, but while the BCCI wants to use eight grounds, ICC is in favour of only five. And the impasse has stayed as is until June end when the ICC Board meets in Barbados. ESPNCricinfo has also reported that the ICC is particularly worried about Chepauk as a venue, because of the I, J and K stands that are locked for the last three years since the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association is yet to get the approval for using the stands during matches. In that light, BCCI too isn't keen on having the MA Chidambaram stadium on its shortlist and the ICC too has reportedly said that they don't want empty stands in the grounds during the matches.
