Bharatiya Janata Party MP and actor Hema Malini's driver, Mahesh Thakur, has been arrested after an accident in Rajasthan Thursday night in which a child was killed and two others injured.
The accident took place yesterday night when Hema Malini was returning to Jaipur after a visit to the Mehendipur Balaji temple in Karauli district and her car Mercedes rammed into an Alto at the Lalsot bypass on the highway. The family travelling in the car were residents of Lalsot, police said.
There were five people -- one man, two women and two children -- in the Alto car when the accident occurred. Five year old girl lost her life on spot, while the others in the car sustained serious injuries.
Hema Malini, who was sitting in the front seat, sustained minor injuries on her forehead, cheek, and legs.
A FIR was filed against Mahesh Thakur and he has been booked under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and section 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others).
